Personal Protective Equipment Regulation (EU 2016/425)

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is equipment which protects the users against health or safety risks either at work, at home or in leisure activities. PPE can be items such as safety helmets, gloves, eye protection, high-visibility clothing, safety footwear and safety harnesses.

The PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 which repealed the PPE Directive 89/686/EEC in April 2018, covers the manufacturing and marketing of PPE to ensure the highest level of protection against hazards. The CE mark on PPE is an evidence of this protection.

From April 2019, only PPE manufactured under EU Regulation 2016/425 can be legally placed on the European market.

Manufacturers must satisfy all the essential requirements of the Regulation in order to CE mark their PPE. Apave experts can assist you in complying with the PPE Regulation. We also can perform various tests and certify your PPE in accordance with the required standards.
